Note The P/N that DM22 has above is not for the original TC shift knob. This is the knob for a Cobra, I'm told. I got one in around 2001-2 for about $25 from Ford.

Just an updated to this thread about multiple PNs.

I went to the Ford dealer today and the parts guy checked on these PNs

The F4ZZ-7213-C Is a leather knob for Cobras for the years around 1995.

The XR3Z-7213-BA number is for 2000 Mustang Cobras. It is also a leather knob. I ordered this one and should have it tomorrow.

Both are for 5 speeds but we don't know if they are the same knob or not.

I got the knob (XR3Z-7213-BA) and it is very nice in terms of being almost the same size and shape as the stock TC knob. The other Cobra knob is noticably smaller.

However, while this knob does thread on the shifter, it tightens up in the wrong postion. I started playing around with trying to stuff something up in the knob to get it to stop in the corect poition. I got sidetracked and the cars have been buried under snow since and I been busy with other stuff. I didn't want to post on this until I could also explain how to get it on in the rightn position.

Just a little update. In the last reply I said I was having trouble getting the XR3Z-7213-BA knob into the correct position on the shift lever. That was on an aftermarket shift lever. Today I installed it on a stock lever and it tightened right into the correct position
I'm posting a couple pics of it, some with the stock OEM "turbo" knob held beside it for comparison.

The first picture is of the F4ZZ-7213-C Cobra knob vs the "turbo" knob. The F4ZZ is smaller but is leather. It's a nice knob but it just doesn't have the shape and feel of the real TC knob

The next two pictures are of the XR3Z-7213-BA as installed in the car. The last pic showes it and an actual TC knob side by side. The XR3Z is very close to the TC knob in size, shape and feel.

Try the M7213A leather shift knob from the SVO by Ford Racing. Seems to match the TC shift knob in size, shape and color. Just lacks "turbo" embossed on the surface.

Thats the one I got for my car also. The only thing missing is the "TURBO" on it. Fits real good.

I have the 94 Cobra knob, it was in my old 92 LX 5.0. I kept it when I sold it. It's now in my 93 2.3 DD(can't stand the cheesy plastic one). I need a "nice" one for the SVO, I got a regular Mustang metric handle at the boneyard the other day. Now for a nice new handle!
