Leaking low oil level sensor.

I've got a leaking low oil level sensor in the pan. It's leaking from the center where the wire comes out. I suppose I could glob some RTV in there but I was wondering, does Ford still sell that sensor? Is it available somewhere else? Could I remove the sensor and install a bolt in it's place? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Here's a P/N for those with a leaking oil low level sensor who's tired of the RTV route.

Here's to a clean oil pan and driveway. (LOL)

List Price $36.45 Jobbers Rate $28.87

I did have to Special Order this part...but Ford has stock of 21 of these as of today. (Next Day Delivery)

This also requires a washer

List Price $4.16 Jobbers Rate $3.56

This happened to be a stock item at my Ford Dealership

The good news is that the whole thing is threaded into the pan so you can just unscrew it and put the gasket above on. Obviously, drain the oil first. I keep forgetting to get the gasket every time I change the oil. Mine's leaking pretty good.

Gasket doesn't help when it leaks where the wire comes out like mine did. Make sure you know where the leak is actually coming from.

firstsvo, muchas gracias! I probably should have checked the part # forum first, huh?! DOH! I gave it a little update. It seems www.fordpartsonline.com has those 2 items for about $1 less than jobber rates, go figure! Of course, you gotta figure in shipping. I'm ordering on Monday! Thanks again!

Anyone know what the threads are? What plug to use to delete it? Mine is leaking through the center and not functional anyway.

You do NOT need to drain the oil to replace the sensor! Just jack the driver side of the car up about 6" or so, and remove it. Jacking up the driver side puts the hole above the level of the oil.
