Leaking Dipdtick & Dips**t

Not a good combo. Well my dipstick tube has been leaking since I did the HG and I'm just now getting around to trying to get it seated properly. My question is the tube has 2 flanges at the bottom & I can only get it to the first flange (on top of the hole not in it) is this correct? If so what is the other flange for? I intend to put some gasket sealer around the tube after I get it set. What got me motivated was my oil level was low so I put in a little oil. On the drive to my dads (1 mile) it ran like crap, got there checked the oil & it was a little bubbly, Oh S**T. I hope I didn't blow another HG, unemployed right now can't afford to spend the money & need it to find a job.
Thank you in advance for any & all help!
Steven

As far as I know it only goes down to the first flange which rests at the top of the hole in the block. Once it is in and the bracket bolted up to the intake manifold bracket, I put the blue goo sealant all around.

From the .02$ department....

Bubbles, while a facinating diversion outside of the engine really suck inside.

As it appears that these cars are infamous for inaccurate measurement of the oil level with the dipstick (assuming its not seated correctly) you could end up overfilling.

In which case the crank will dip into the oil making bubbles. At this point the oil doesnt really have much in the way of lube properties since it contains a raft of air.

Mine was bolted down, but was located somewhat near the hole.... after my HG I expanded the metal just a bit and have it seated correctly. Still, a normal 5qt change doesnt show as full on the stick.
