thanks!
Zach oh and by the way...fixed that damn problem on my car...turned out to be i had a fitting in my IC pipe that kept coming out under any boost...(hole about the size of a Quarter!!!) plugged it up and the vac lines connected...runs great! finally!

LA3 programs incorporate the big VAM, brown tops, input from the ACT sensor (only on 87-88s) and inter cooler.

Congrats on solving the problem

The only cars that had the big VAM are 87-88 TC and all years of SVO. However the 84 -85 SVOs had green tops while the 85.5-86 SVOs had brown tops. The big VAM, big injector PE1 computers are rare and expensive.

Running a small VAM computer with a large VAM is going to cause problems.

Nope. You need an LA2 or LA3 to run the big VAM I believe. Or what ever the first big VAM EEC was that was used.

i feel very enlightened!!! thanks Pete and Dan, you guys are great!!!!!
By the way, this is off this topic but i didnt want to post another thread for something this simple. Dan...you have seen my car...i dont have the front side lamps that alot of the TC's had...yet...i had the brown top injectors from factory. i was guessing at first my car was an 86 because of the brown tops. BUT i ALSO dont have a 3rd brake light either(from what i recall didnt the 86+ have the 3rd brake light AND side clear turn signal lamps??)...i say its an 85.5...is this correct or am i off with this info? Any help appreciated!!

The surest way to determine your model year is to use the VIN decoder in the Tech articles.

The side marker lights were optional on the 85 and 86 years, so that doesn't really help. Third brake light is an 86 requirement.

My january build date 85 XR7 came with brown tops and a PC1 computer. I've heard it thrown around that the early 85s had green tops at first, but haven't actually heard from anyone with an 85 TC or XR7 with green tops.

Hope this helps.
