Time to replace my worn out PRC shocks and struts.  Im looking at the Koni STR-T line and have a few questions.  I have an ‘88 TC and it’s a daily driver.  I like a firmer ride but nothing over the top and I have no plans to lower this car.

How do you like the ride quality?

Can these be used with oem style strut mounts?

Sn95 is what I’m looking for, correct?

Any modifications needed or is it a direct bolt in?

Thanks for your time!

I'm using Koni STR.T (orange) for SN-95 front and rear. Front are direct fit, rear require a custom bracket. which can be found at https://23parts.com/

I also went with poly bushings, lowered front and rear, so my ride is firm.

Folks, I'm mulling over rear suspension refresh right now. Thanks for the leads. Are there certain part numbers of these shocks someone has good experiences with?

88chickentc,
I just placed my order with cjponyparts for the front and rear Koni STR.T kit. $375 shipped with their 6% off coupon. I ordered moog front strut mounts from rockauto for $20 each. I noticed rockauto has bilstein rear shocks listed for a fair price, if they carried matching fronts I would have gone with them I think.

Now I’m considering ball joints, control arm bushings and spring isolators. Does anyone have some good advice on those parts? Thanks!

I used Energy Suspension bushings and isolators on the front.  They performed well.

Jumping in here, for quad shocks, is it worth keeping them? CJponyparts has a kit with the quad shocks and a cheaper kit without them as well. I am close to doing this upgrade for my car and dont know if its worth the extra money for new quads or to just toss them.

I was going to replace my quads eventually but I’d like to hear everyone’s thoughts on that as well.

I know many Thunderbird and Mustang guys that do not run them. It's a triangulated 4 link so it really shouldn't have axle wrap issues. In my recent suspension rebuild I bought a set but had to make some changes so I started driving the car without them and couldn't really tell a difference. I'm going to end up putting them on because too much time has passed and I can't return them. Koni quad shocks are too expensive just to sit there.

I know most people usually just remove them, especially if they upgrade their rear lower & upper control arms to something better than stock, like with maximum motorsport or che performance stuff.
