" The KS listens for detonation like sounds from the motor, and if it hears any, it retards timing to stop the detonation. Retarding timing reduces engine power, though, and the KS probably retards timing more than is really necessary. IF you know what detonation sounds like, and dont drive with the stereo cranked so you cant hear the motor, you can disconnect the KS, and if you hear detonation, back off the power, and then take steps to determine the cause of the detonation int he first place. If you dont know exactly what detonation sounds like, or drive with the stereo cranked, DO NOT disconnnect it, because uncontrolled detonation will take out a head gasket if you are lucky, and will hole a piston on a bad day.

The KS in located on the lower intake, facing the firewall. It is the sensor closest to the drivers fender. "

Im suprised, that Pete did not say anything about the tranny, if you set boost to 17 psi youll be stressing your transmission, Ive read the auto cars trans is not too reliable.

Good point, Charles.... I dont think the good old A4LD will last long if full boost is used on a regular basis.
