Ok guys, heres the deal I just bought my tc about a month ago. Since the day I bought it the keyhole lights are always on, even when I lock it. Is this normal or is something wrong? Also I was doing a tune up and noticed that the alternator had 3 wires, a yellow w/ white, light green w/ red, and a black. My question is that the black wire is the only wire that is not hooked to anything it is just hanging there. Please help!

In the 1988 EVTM it shows the black wire terminating at a device called a shiel that the other two wires pass through. It doesn't say where it is.

The keyhole lights are on a timer that is suppose to turn them off after 25 seconds.
The Illuminated Entry Timer is on the package tray behind the rear seat. It appears to be roughly square and is held to the bottom of the package tray by two nuts. The diagnostics point to it being faulty if the lights don't go out, but it seems to say the courtesy lamps will stay on also?

My car had the same wire loose in the loom from the alt. plug. It didn't cause me a problem. I would check to see if there is a short in inside the door (maybe at the keyless entry module if you have it) when any button is pressed at the keyless panel all the courtesy lights will come on.

Yup, the balck wire on the regulator plug doesnt go anywhere. The stock 88 alt is a strange piece of work (I think it is of jap decent), but Ford still used the standard alt mounted regulator and plug for it. All other Ford 2G and 3G alts do use the black wire.

Both my 88 TC and my 88 Sport are the same way.I never had any problem with the alternator working right with it not connected,so I figured if it ain't broke, don't fix it.So far so good.I always wonder about that though.
