hey guys, i just bought my first TC about a week ago for $1000. I'm very impressed with this rwd 4banger. I thought I'd be let down after owning a porsche 944 but its quite the opposite. I actually like the feel of this car better than the 944. Before buying the TC I was searching for the perfect rear wheel drive 4 cylinder to fit my needs. (economy, speed, and the ability to make the rear end go out from under me). What do you guys think about the TC's ability as a drift car? I'm not an import fan, so that wasnt an option for me. I think my clutch might be slippin a bit because I have to redline it to get it to roast the tires even a short way. I'm lookin at a centerforce stage II. I also thought the TC would be able to chirp in 3rd gear. Should it be able too? I guess basically what I'm asking is, as far as crazy autocross/stunt/dumbass driving goes, what should this car be able to do?
roads? where we're going we dont need roads.

First the car needs modifications. Yes, the car can kick its rear end out but first things first, a five lug conversion would need to be done. Lets face it, 5 lugs is better than four. When the back end is kicked out that puts a pretty heavy strain on the lug bolts. When being held in a drift for a long period of time then this is a tremindous strain on those lug bolts. even cars like the 240sx have this done, and the 240 weighs significantly less than the bird. Other then that all you really need is the skill to handle this car in a drift situation and to only drift in a sanction event or in a place where noone can get in the way. Thats all that I can think of anyway.

A whole lot easier alternative to doing the 5 lug swap is to get an aftermarket wheel that is hubcentric instead of lugcentric. The hubcentric wheels fit tightly around the hub and do not rely on the strength of the lug bolts to hold the weight of the car, also the hubcentric is stronger than the 4 AND the 5 lug set ups.
On another note, my brother's 88 5spd has the T3 swap, 3inch downpipe, and 3inch exhaust, and he can chirp the tires in 3rd gear. You should be able to get the ass end of the car to swing around for you anytime you want, it happens to me sometimes when I don't want. Be careful out there!
