hey Tom. Congrats on the wheels, I'm anxious to see some pics. I'd say tire size depends on a few things. Like how lowered your car is, the wheel offsets, and whether or not you want to do some "massaging of the fenders"
I'd say first off is losing the quad shocks as I know my 275/40 17 bfg's wouldn't fit with them. Good riddance anyway. I'm in a similar boat as you. Right now my 17x8 cobras up front fit fine with 245/45 tires. However I had my car sitting way low initially (this was due to using mustang eibachs) and when I took it for its initial post 5 lug conversion cruise, anytime I would lay into the brakes; (same setup as yours 13"rotors with PBRs) because of the brake dive they would rub real bad. Tonight I'm going to work on the fender lips (got my wooden Louisville Slugger ready)and see what I can do.

Since the initial test drive, (having replaced brakes, springs, and going to 5 lug, I replaced my lower control arms with a set of MM weight jackers. They are sweet, especially compared to the stamped stock ones. So I put those on and lifted the rear back up a little and in doing so I took some weight off the front, raising it up as well. Hopefully this elimiates my rubbing, but I know ultimately I need a different set of springs.

I know there was a big debate on here, ask Chuck W, about springs a while back. Everyone wants to use the mustang c-springs or the eibachs, but as Chuck said, they are just too soft in the rear. I put them on(the eibachs) more to see how the car looked dropped down a few inches (btw it looked wicked) and I didn't like how the rear was jacked with my stock springs, and I wasn't about to try cutting coils.

Keep in mind everyones's car weight and weight distribution is different. On mine, the car is pretty close to gutted and weighs less than 3000 lbs with me. I had hoped to get away with using the eibachs (even though Chuck said no, and I like him and trust his word) because its what I had laying around and they were basically free. Plus I figured since my car weighed less than a mustang, maybe they would work. Nope.
Yea they may work, but I know they are too soft and not the ideal choice.

I guess my plan is finding the largest tire that will fit (like yourself) and find out how low I can drop my car. As for the springs, I'm about ready to just throw down some loot for a full coilover setup. We'll see. Good luck
Darrell
ps. this just popped into my head: go see Glenn Hawkins setup in the showroom, and ask him for details. Those wheels are beauties aren't they?
Wheels/Tires: Custom made 18x9 & 18x10 IForged AERO 3 piece forged wheels with BF Goodrich KDW 255/40-18's on the front and 295/35-18's on the rear. According to IForged, this is the very 1st T-Bird ever to be fitted with their wheels.
