Just another Bamby killer !

Yup, a bit over a year ago I hit a BIG bamby with my bird, didn't munch it to bad. Bought the parts, haven't fixed it yet,, Now the turbo I bought on EBAY blew out the oil seal and lunched itself. so I drive my wife's bird till I can afford another turbo. Now for the bad news. On New Years night (10pm at night)I went to the store to get my lady some flowers and on the way back I spotted something running across the road, yup, you guessed it,, another Bamby. This one was half the size of the one I had hit with my car. It was very wet and rainy out and so trying not to "Ditch" the car I hit the brakes HARD. Now, if the blasted critter had kept goin the direction he was originally headed he would be alive today to frolic with all his/her bamby buddies. So, since he turned tail and headed back from where he came, I rear ended him directly on the right headlight, and his butt was the same heigth. (he/she was small) All I saw was Deer Butt and Fiberglass flying. I was less then 1/4 mile from my driveway. I'm not sure how many cuss words i said in that last 1/4 mile, but I assure you there were quite a few. After parking the car, I get out to look at the damage,,,,, Nose clip destroyed, fender crushed and shoved back so far I cannot open the passenger door at all, and nothing resembling a headlight to be found. Guess I did it right. needless to say, the flowers did me absolutely no good at all. How depressing,, oh well,, Happy New year??

My dad ended up hitting 3 different deer in his '88 TC until a collision with a slightly larger object (a town car) ended the bird for good. But consider yourself lucky that you can still drive the car and that you weren't hurt. I wish you could say the same for that deer, though. But oh well...survival of the fittest.

That sucks man!

A long time ago , I got a big one with my 79 Cougar. I caught him with the passenger side front. If you remember 77-79 Cougars the had the points at the sides with the turn signals in them. The only damage to my car was the turn signal was knocked out. The big point on the header panel then remained to completely and throughly "gut" the poor guy at which point the entire intestines emptied onto the hood and windshield. The whole front quarter of the car was covered in poop piss blood and hair.

The deer was knocked about 20-30 feet off the road. It was trying to get up and over a hill with its rear half only being held on my a small section of flesh. It was a sick and yet amazing site to watch. He stayed alive long enough for a State trooper to put a slug into his head.

I replaced the turn signal and you could not tell it ever happened. The Trooper even made a comment after it happened that he had never seen a car win , and not get major damage.

Just a thought but it seems the birds are getting more deer than hunters that wait for hours on end just hoping to get a clear shot.Sorry bout the car but at least I hope you ate that SOB for dinner!

Yeah, that is the one thing that really surprized me. I had to sign a wavier to release the deer. It was considered mine since I hit it. The trooper said it was that way to offset the cost since deer usually dont have any insurance. I had three different people stop and ask if they could have it.

My wife hit one in '97. She had to sign a release to KEEP the deer. He said something about proving you didn't poach it. Yeah forget the guns, go hunting with a 93 Sable! Got it fixed and a month later, she hit a tree and totalled it! [Image: rolleyes.gif]
