It Was A TC Kind of Day

Yesterday Les and I put the SVO back in storage. I had noticed an 87-88 TC sitting around the storage yard for a long time so we inquired what the deal was. Some guy stored it and joined the service and they don't even know where he is. Les got the VIN and is going to try to trace it. Later in the day I passed a black 87-88 that I had seen a few times. The guy always waves or flashes his lights but I never can get a chance to meet him, even though I know where he lives. So I did a U- turn and caught up with him. We talked for about 30 minutes - in the rain. He lives in a trailor park about a mile from my house. Even though he isn't on the web he said he might join NATO. He also told me there are 3 other TCs and owners in the park. These are cars I have never seen. Needless to say I gave him a handful of my NATO business card and asked him to pass them on. Hope I get to meet these people soon.

Geez, Pete... are Ohio and PA the TC capitol of the world? Around here, I havent seen another TC either parked somewhere or on the road for probably 2 or 3 months. Havent seen an SVO around here in probably 10 years. Even though I live in a major meto area, EVRYBODY here drives 4 wheel drive trucks, claiming they need them for winter driving. What BS. Last time I got stuck in the snow around here was probably 15 years ago, and that was in my driveway trying to ram thru a huge drift from the plow.

Jeff, probably a big part of the reason for there being so many TCs, actually Fords in general, is that Ford used to be, maybe still is, one of the largest employers in northern Oh. Ford's Ohio work force is second in size only to the Rouge complex. In addtion, Tbirds were assembled at Lorain Assembly plant - 5 minutes from where I live. I can relate to the 4 wd people. When I moved to the house I'm in now I traded my 86 TC in on a 4wd Ranger for the winter commute (28 mi one way) to the Ford plants where I worked. Even when I didn't need the 4wd to get to work, I often needed it to get up my drive way when I got home. I got one bad ass drive way and I hate to shovel/blow/throw snow.
