It's time for an ignition switch....

After running on a "rigged" ignition switch for 3 years, my car has finally decided it needs a new switch and lock tumbler. It will not run unless the key is held in a certain position, otherwise, it shuts off. I had this problem when I first got it, but I basically had something in it wired back together.
My questions are:

what brands are best to use in these cars?
I have blank TC keys. Can I get them made to match the new lock tumbler?
Could the Ford dealership help me? (it's a drive for me to get out there, and as a college student, free time is sparse)

Your Ford Dealer MAY replace the ignition switch under a recall. Mine did, but I do lot of business there. I would call your dealer first to see. the ignition switch is seperate from the lock cylinder

If your car is an '88 Ford will replace it free (they were ordered to recall 88-93 cars by the NHTSA after a bunch of cars caught fire). If it's 87 or older it'll be on your dime but the switches are cheap (about 15 bucks). Get a Ford one.

Youv'r got blank TC Keys??? the ones with Ford and Turbo embossed on them??? Rubber head??? If so where in the HELL did you find them?/ I cant find them anywhere in wisconsin..... and i'd like a spare set laying around. Mine are pretty beat up/

Yeah I got 4 sets. Got from a guy a few years ago. Have you checked ebay as I often see some on there

Huh. Well i check E-bay every so often, but never see any . do you search for 87-88 t bird or specificly for the keys?

Keys aren't for sale but I know a guy that may have some. I'll check with him
