Hey again...

Well I got it back (temporarily) again, we're missing tailpipes. Mechanic wanted me to run it around and see what I thought.

There is *definately* a difference in performance now. It's still as mild mannered as ever off the turbo, but when the turbo kicks in.. damn.

Anyway here's the lovely welding job he did (I believe they call this bubblegum welding).

Everything else seems AOK so far except for the wires, which are still sticking out in places.

I guess it's on to the air filter...

Another thing he said he did was up the turbo itself to 18psi? That sound right?

It looks good except the welds. I shouldn't comment on other peoples welds though.

I call welds like that rabbit turds, he should still be fired. Im not a super great welder but I can weld better then that.

He used a flux core wire and it probably has little beads of weld all over.

He was also to lazy to make a 3"-2.5" transition pipe and thats why he had to fill in the gap with a weld.

It doesnt even look like he really cleaned it up either I would grind all the bumps off clean the weld up and at least paint it b/c It will rust and fast.

taking a second look it just looks like he bypassed the cat with a 2.5 inch piece but for somereason theres a huge gap and talk about a hinderense in flow at that curve.

I would take it back and complain b/c I think he did a really bad job.

Also, it appears that he re-used the stock Y pipe??? Am I wrong?

What size downpipe did you go with on the exhaust? If its all stock, you basically have a good looking STOCK exhaust, and the extra power you're feeling is from the cat being deleted and the boost being raised.

You really need to take it back to them and have them fix the damn wires, and explain to the guy there that if you blow your motor, they are responsible because 18 PSI on 87 octane is too much for the IHI in the summer. I got away with it last summer and all winter, but I have to pump 89 now because I started to hear a few pings.

To answer Pete -- I don't know how he did it. He explained it all very quickly and I didn't quite understand what he was talking about.

I only run the TC on premium gas, btw.

Everyone else: I think we're all in agreement this is not a great job at all. I don't know if I'm better to just not pay their bill and take it somewhere else to be corrected, or if I should complain and endure another week or two without my car.
