My poor old 88 has sat for 3 years in my backyard after the fuel pump went out. A while back, I dropped the fuel tank & emptied out the remaining fuel. When I pulled out the pump, the isolator, tank inlet, and vapor gaskets were all eaten up. I cleaned out the tank & coated top & bottom with bed liner. I also coated the plastic tank carrier & the bottom of the trunk with the bed liner. I'm also going to coat the inner fender wells in the future. Trying to make the car as quiet as possible inside. Anyway, finally got everything back together last Thursday, and she is running again. I drove it up & down the alley behind my house, and found out I don't have any brakes. Something to work on this week. I have a number of upgrades planned, including a complete drive train rebuild with a 5 speed manual(finally). I spend about 5 hours yesterday giving it a wash job & cleaning up the interior. The paint is shot, but that is not a surprise sitting out in the hot New Mexico sun for 3 plus years. Other than the headliner, the interior is in good shape. Attached are a couple of pics from yesterday, and I plan to add to this with each upgrade I have planned.

I had my brakes go out once a ways back but luckily someone on this forum was nice enough to to tell me about the relay switch near the vacuum tree on the fire wall. Give it a smack with a wrench and listen for the brake fluid pressure pump to kick in for a few seconds. That was my issue... sticky relay switch.

Good luck and let us know what you find.

That's your definition of "the paint is shot"? Wow...I didn't get that from those photos. Looks pretty good to me!
