Is this the quad shock???

There is a horizontal shock looking thing behind the rear tires. Is this the quad shock? If it is, haven't I heard of someone removing theirs? I thought my rims were wrong but I guess there just wasn't clearance around the quad shocks. They look to be the only thing in the way, but I can't really tell. The new rims are 16x8 with a +15mm offset. The tires are 245/50/16. I was running the 245s on my stock rims with no problems. The center bore is, after all the dealing with the company, correct. I 'dry' fitted the rims without tires and they fit snug. I guess my question is just can I remove the quad shocks without any ill effects. Oh yeah, and anyone with a similar sized wheel, do you have any fitment or rubbing problems??

Thanks

Yeah, that's the quad shock. No problems removing it if you want. It is possible that you might get wheel hop when you are under heavy acceleration(at the verge of spinning), but that may just be a mustang problem. Try it and see. It will not hurt anything to pull them off tho'.

I cant remember the exact number for the offset for 16x8 on a TC (kicking myself for not writing it down), but I seem to remember is is 25 mm or 35 mm.... definately more than 15 mm. I have 245-50-16 tires on aftermarket 16x8 Cobra R rims from Performance Wheel Outlet, and have lots of clearance for the quads.

All is well now. I called the manufacturer and the wheels fit perfect with the tires on. The problem was that the wheels were made so tight to specification that there wasn't enough room for the tiny bit of rust that had formed around the hub to fit inside the centerbore. The quad shocks weren't in the way at all. A quick sand and some lubricating oil made the wheels slide on just fine and they look great! The +15 mm offset makes the wheels stick out maybe 1/2 inch further than stock and the look is perfect. Exactly what I was wanting. I'll try to borrow a digital camera soon and get some pics to finally send in to the site. Thanks for everything guys.
