Is my TFI shot?

If it doesn't suck bad enough that I have to work on Sunday, I am driving downtown on Rt 315 International dragway, doing about 75 in 5th gear. Out of nowhere, the engine dies. Check Engine light comes on, tach drops to zero. I pushed on the gas pedal and sure enough no power. I start to pull onto the shoulder, downshift to fourth and release the clutch (force of habit). The motor restarts. No problems the rest of the way in.

I'll check for codes when I get home. This kind of sounds like a TFI stall, doesn't it?

It could be but I would pull codes before buying parts.

I already have replacements. You are right, I do not want to "fix" the wrong thing.

Sounds lke what I experienced with my intermittant inertia switch a month and a half ago. Car would die, and restart within a few seconds. Run the codes, looking for a CM code 14 (intermittant PIP failure) and / or 18 (intermittant IDM failure) if your problem is a intermittant TFI or PIP, one of these codes MIGHT have been set.

Yep. Code 14. I have cleared this twice before, so I suppose it is time to stop ignoring it.
