Thats awesome! Great idea, until I can afford to save up for the upholstery work.

A few questions though. 1) Does it make the fabric hard and a little crusty/ 2) Why didnt you paint the entire center section around the bottom area?

1) Yes, the fabric is very stiff. I have read that it gets soft again with just a little use. I'm going to try a hand held vacuum with a rotating brush to speed up the process.

2) I played with the lines in Photoshop first and this was what I thought looked the best. This is also the lines that the factory used for the raven interior, which is easily my favorite interior. It probably would have been easier to use the crease in the seat to hide the paint line because taping up fabric isn't quite as easy as taping a car. The tape doesn't stick to fabric as well as I would have liked.

This black patch on the bottom was two decent coats of black on it.

The fabric just eats up the paint.

T-BirdX3,
In your first post you said you used Photoshop.
I like how you were able to keep the fabric texture after changing the color.
Whats that feature called ?
What version of Photoshop are you useing ?

Thanks

I use a program called "Gimp" it's basically an open source version of Photoshop and it's free. Just Google for gimp.

In gimp I adjust the hue, saturation, and brightness settings, under the color tab, in order to get the color that I am looking for.

Most people have no idea what Gimp is so I just say I use Photoshop.

RDOG: the fabric is still until about a week of daily driving, it loosens up. my passenger side has been riden in about 3-4 times and its loosened up too.
T-BIRDX3: again how close are you spraying to the seat? need to just be a couple inches away, this was one coat over the faded black (blue) seats i did

I would just put the money together to have a good automotive upholstery shop to cover it in the color and fabric you want. I am afraid trying to paint it will not hold up over time and could end up in your clothes.

the paint doesnt come off on your clothes, ive had no issues, and if you looking for show quality, then yeah i would go with getting the interior re done, but for us DIY guys who build cars in their backyards, its a great project, not very expensive, and something you can say u did yourself.
