id say poor choice of engine...if you have a car who only real value is the rare/odd motor, and stuff one of 100million engines in the bay, youve just created a heavy, gas guzzling pig of a car...oh well.

i have a 2.3t motor, complete, with tranny ill sell you to reassemble the car correctly.

Quote:Why not just buy a 5.0 bird and put TC trim on it?
It's not nearly that easy. The 5.0 birds don't have the ABS, the PRC, 8.8 with disks, only have 2.73 or 3.08 gears, sometimes a trac-lock, the base line door panels, and if its not a sport, it has non-supportive seats, no console, semi-digital gauges, chrome trim, among many other details.

To get all of those systems, you'd have to strip a TC to put into a 5.0 bird, or put a 5.0 into a TC. Which would you prefer?

That's easy, I'd prefer to strip a wrecked TC rather than put a 5.0 into such a low mile perfect original TC.

Wow has it been a year since that car was on ebay? Time sure flies. I remember that car looked factory, not some amateur swap but a well done swap using ford parts. That being said I'd put it back on ebay because it'll sell higher there than it will here. I dont remember what you paid but it was up there as I recall. I would take "jmthunderbirdturbo" up on his offer before he changes his mind. It makes more sense to me to reskin a V-8 car to look like a tc than repower a tc with a V-8. Now if it had twin turbo's that would be another story. Big Grin

I apologize in advance for not being sure how to properly locate the reply to an individual poster's questions, but I'm trying to respond to 'clifford', so here goes and then I'll see where it ends up being located. I'll also try to be brief with this response here because I don't want to bore the other posters who responded to this topic but may not be interested in the details of this car. I'm the second owner, having purchased it in 1990 from a personal friend of mine, so I have owned it for 18 years. I did the conversion in 1992. Clifford's comments about the black inserts in the finger grooves of the front bumper were very interesting to me because of questions I've always had about them. I have the extensive history of the car from day one (and pictures, paperwork, receipts, specs, details, etc, etc) but I need advice or coaching from anyone who wants it as to the best way to exchange it with them because I don't want to clog up the Message Board http://natomessageboard.com/uploads/00004792/35.JPG http://natomessageboard.com/uploads/00004792/29b.jpg .

At the top of the posters post are different icons, click the one that looks like quotation marks and a reply window will pop up with all the quote in it. It will be preceeded by "Originally posted by whoever :" then it will end with "QB]" If you only want to respond to a sentence and the post is long you can delete the rest of the post as long as you don't delete the "Originally posted by whoever :" and the end part "/QB][/QUOTE", the reply will look good.
Did I confuse you too or just myself?

FWIW that car is beautiful... It should be restored with an original engine and lovingly parked in a museum.

You DID NOT confuse me and I really appreciate the assistance. I had tried to find out how to do it in 'Forum FAQ' but didn't see it there, so your tutorial was a lifesaver! Experienced posters such as yourself probably can't believe how confusing this format can be to a rookie like me, but sadly it appears to be. But again I thank you for taking the time to help the new guy!
