i bought a set of the softer chuck w motor mounts off tommy moore and installed them the same day they came, these things are awesome!!! i took out the old mounts and couldn't believe how bad they really were. i put them in a vise and could move them in any direction about 3" with very little force. the bottoms of the rubber were starting to rip and tear also.

installed:

the old crappy mounts:

i haven't been able to drive the car with them installed yet, but i would highly suggest getting a set of these mounts, the quality and fitment is awesome.

In what order did you attach the brackets? Engine first, then K-member or vice versa? Did you have any problems with the driver side getting everything to line up easily? Tell me what you think after driving the car for a little.
Thanks

i bolted the bracket to the engine first, then to the k-member. it was a little tricky getting the lower bolt to bolt on to the k-member but it just took a little finesse.thanks tommy

Which K member bolt, driver or passenger side? And what was the finess caused by? Did you find that the driver side K-member bracket was difficult to align? I'm trying to confirm something I experienced with Chucks's mounts.
Thanks

drivers side was the hardest..it was hard to align the bottom bolt because i couldn't get the engine to lift straight up or come straight down. the drivers side k-member bracket was hard to align because i had barely any room to work with, other than that they work great..why are you having problems with yours?

I have the Poly mounts, haven't really been able to put the car through it's paces yet, and won't for a while, as even once I fix the rear main, it's still in a break-in period, but they went in just fine, although I can confirm that it's rougher at idle (but I knew that going in Big Grin ) but the fitment was excellent. I also had the advantage of installing them while the engine was on a stand out of the car, which made it a lot easier.

Not to slight Chuck in any way. I figure what I'm going to say will generate a lot of grief. I had problems with the driver's side also. If I mounted the K-member bracket first the it was impossible to get the engine mount aligned and bolted. If I did the engine mount first, the K-member bracket didn't want to align without a lot of effort. It appeared to me that the engine had shifted and I noticed that the bushing didn't sit centered on the engine bracket.
I took them out and compared them very closely to the original '86 mounts and a set of used '88 mounts I have. Chuck's driver side mount is misaligned by .225-.230". The hole in the K-member bracket needs to be moved towards the front (edited for correctness, should read "towards the rear") of the bracket by this amount.
If you look at the following pic, you can see that Chuck's bushing is centered on the K-member bracket and the stock bushing is offset to the front (edited, should read "rear") of the K-member bracket. It sure explains the difficulty I had in getting the K-member bracket to align on the K-member. It put the engine in enough of a bind that a lot of engine noise and vibration was transmitted. I took them off and put the stock back on.
I've since elongated the bushing mounting hole by .230 and brazed the bushing bolt to the K-member bracket on both sides. It'll make it easier to install if the bushing can be loose while bolting the mounts in.
