Injector leak

OK, several searches in the archives, and a several O-ring replacements, and I still have a leak at the #1 injector. I can see the fuel on TOP of the brown plastic when I shine a flashlight at the underside of the rail/injector connection. I can see it is coming from the rail cup, not from the injector body. All I can figure is, the plastic has a hairline crack in it somewhere around there. Guess I will buy a replacement and see if that fixes it.

Well, now I am confused. Just got back from Autozone, took the rail off, and full pressure sprayed out of the #1 injector position. I had tried jamming it down hard as I tightened the bolt, and it seemed to have sealed. However, when I put the original injector back in, again jamming it down hard, it has a very slow leak? Do I have a problem with the rail? It doesn't seem likely, but I don't know if I should replace the injector or not now.

I had the same exact problem, I replaced the injector with a spare and it still leaked. I ended up coating my entire fuel rail and the necks of the injectors in a few layers of JB Weld. Its a temporary fix- The kind of temporary fixed that gets fixed next year or something. Big Grin

Two words.

Motor oil.

The o-rings when dry, or even with gas on them are fairly sticky. If you really have to force them, you are asking for a crack in the plastic, especially at a low temp.

I've gone thru no less than 8 junkyard injectors + the original set just to have 4 that are leak free (knocks on wood, rubs rabbit foot, silent prayer)

You can try lubing them up & see if they just were not sealed correctly.

(Petroleum jelly works too)

FYI, for what Autozone sells you a disc-type injector (assuming that is what you got) you can get a rebuilt set of for for just a few dollars more...

I thought I saw a rebuilt set for ~ $100.

Installed the replacement injector. The Sorenson injector seemed to fit tighter? It was more difficult to push the fuel rail down to tighten the bolt, and it did not go as far down.

Does that make any sense? At any rate, I think I got the drip to stop. Did not see anything yesterday afternoon, and drove it to the company Christmas party without the fuel smell.
