A guy tried to buy my car the other day but i said no because i like to drive it. So...i raced a little 93ish CRX earlier today, it was basically tied the entire time, all the way to 90 we were nose to nose. I was pretty disappointed and if i saw that guy again today the tc would be long gone. WTF i thought for sure my car would have won, my car runs fine and there's nothing wrong with it so why the hell didnt i walk him? I have my boost controller set at 15.

main reason is the automatic transmission.
but that crx could be worked up with a gsr motor or even a small turbo that you don't hear.
i know my car is slow and i love it because its my car and i rebuilt it. it looks nice and rides nice with a lil butt kickin too, just its not the fastest

hmm, i wonder if the auto makes that much of a difference, it was all motor on the crx the guy is a buddy of mine, i just expected alot more out of this car, maybe if my car wasnt such a fat ass.

To broaden you perspective, do a search on "5 speed conversion" and variations on that and see what some of the people that have seen "both sides of the fence" have to say. There is a whole 'nother world out there.

No, the transmission doesn't make the difference. At 15psi the auto is within 1/10th of a second of the quarter mile times of the stick cars. Who knows what is going on with your particular car. I like the way my auto TC runs/drives. For reference, I'm basing that on the Road & Track road test of the 87-88 TC. They ran a 16.35 second qtr mile. My TC when it was bone stock ran a 16.47 by just turning up the boost to the stick car's level.

I'm pretty sure the factory CRX Si's were running a mid-16 1/4. That seems to jive with all the info so far.
I can offer plenty of suggestions to factort imports that could outrun a TC, but that's not what we're here for- instead, decide if you're going to keep it, and either be content that you're not the fastest around, or get to work trying to be.
And if you follow that path, well, that's what we're here for...

Another factor to consider is the crx weighs approx 21-2200 lbs where as the thunderbird is 3200 lbs give or take your are giving up close to a 1,000 lbs in weight

Did you just get the TC? It's not a rocket ship, take him from a 60mph roll.

I thought about the hp to weight and his car has the advantage. I have had the car for a while but since i rebuilt it and it sat for a while i was babying it around town, this was the first time i raced anyone. Oh well, i think im gonna put old lard ass TC on a diet.
