Ignition switch removal?

I just picked up an 84 svo(blew up the tc last year), the ignition switch is screwing up, I got into it - what are these bolts(?)? I was expecting to find torx bolts with the center pin, but these are stepped and smooth! What do I do - grind a slot for a standard screwdriver to get 'em out

well my switch just took a poop. i pull the cover off and it was a brand new unit. the back casing fell off. and they installed regular screws. but Pete D told me to use a dremel with cut off wheels and slot the little nipples for use with a flat head screw driver. you can reuse or get screws that fit the same size once your done. if you dont have a dremel of some sort then maybe use a file.

You can buy the torx bits with the hole in them to properly fit the head.

Those are the shear off head screws that were installed in the earlier '80 Fords... You'll either need to cut a slot or possibly can get a small pair of vice grips to lock onto the edge and break them loose...
