The last six months when driving my 87 Turbo Coupe the radio would loose power then come back on by it's self then started to turn off when turning the wheel, then had to bump the key to get it to turn on. So I picked up a new ignition switch and R&R the old one and found the problem. It started to separate where you plug the wiring into, looks like a weak spot where it crimps on to the casting.

Have you performed the Fog Relay modification, as described by Jeff Korn and found in the FAQ?
I too have had this issue, but mine was partially caused by the switch/connector overheating and melting, shutting the car down. If you did not already know—most of the electrical current flows through that connector, as in nearly all cases the ignition switch is a sort of terminal to various systems, such as the A/C, illumination including fog lamps (that’s 30 amps alone!), ABS, EEC-IV, PRC, etc. Since most of those require the ignition to be ON to also be powered on, they begin or terminate here. Jeff’s Fog Relay upgrade redirects the 30 amps that flows through the switch from that system—instead, a relay is installed by the ignition coil (typically), and the relay handles that current. The relay is energized essentially by the same circuit that carried it previously—replaced by an 18 gauge wire carrying only a small amount of current, which energizes the relay which in turn now powers on the fog lamps.
Before this I was melting an ignition switch every year or two. It got so bad I carried around a spare, as essentially you are stranded until it is fixed. Since then the issue has not reappeared.
Another proud dues-paying member.
1987 Turbo Coupe w/T5OD, 8.8 axle, grey smoke; most options. Got it in 1991 with 41K miles: 3 turbos, 2 heater cores, 3 T5OD full rebuilds, 6 clutches, 1 head gasket, 2 Teves II ABS units, etc. later....

I've already replaced my driving lights and cleaned the Fog light switch and it's GTG.
