Ignition Switch....again

I know this subject has been beaten to death, but I just want to throw in my .02. A few people have described certain symptoms that indicated a bad switch, and I have been dealing with those same symptoms off and on for almost a year. It got really bad the other night, so I decided it was time to R&R the switch. Took off the cover, dremelled the screws, removed the unit. It disintegrated right in my hand. It was barbecued. I thank God that it didn't cause a fire. I replaced it with a $15 part and now everything is fine. Fifteen dollars well spent not to see my TC cremated. I'm just saying that as soon as you notice the symptoms, fix it immediately. BTW, don't accidentally drop your Dremel on your seat when it's on. One more thing....exhaust manifold gaskets, or not? I'm preparing to drop the engine in probably next week.

Don't remember and I don't have it handy. I just went to Autozone and picked one up. The symptoms were that upon startup the gauges and the climate control were dead and the brake lights wouldn't go out. I would just wiggle the key until everything started working. It was only happening off and on until the last couple of weeks when it would happen every time. The other night I couldn't keep the car running. Time was up.

I just put one in mine... went with a Borg Warner switch from O'Reilly's for $12. I bought a cheaper switch, got it home and went to put it on and discovered it was already broke. Glad I replaced it... heard too many bad stories about them going bad. It did cure all of my ignition issues with my car as far as having to jiggle the key to get it to start and things of that nature.
