Ignition Cylinder Broke

I have been dealing with this for a while but haven't figured it out. I searched and didn't see anything specific on this.

My ignition turns without the key but not completely. It is loose and I have to play with it sometimes to get it to shut off (no ding ding ding ding). I think it may be part of my problem. (charging issue) What would fix the problem? I had one out of my parts car but the key disappeared.

To me it does sound like the cylinder is shot. I have a good cylinder with turbo key sitting here

I have a parts car. I was just wanting to see if there was anything else that would cause it.

There is a gear on the rear of the lock cyl that moves a rack gear which is connected to a rod that, in turn, moves the ignition switch itself. Either the lock cyl is bad, the gears are worn out, the rod id loose / damaged, or the ignition switch is falling apart. Take it apart and inspect. If its the rack gear / rod that is FUBAR, it is easier to replace the whole column than to take it all apart (ROYAL PITA) and replace the rack gear / rod.

The "ding" has nothing to do with the lock cyl.... there is a wire with a spring contact that grounds the wire whenever the key is in the ignition the wire / contact is located at the lock cyl in the column itself.
