Identifying parts?

Would any of you guys be willing to help me identify some parts and wires?

Why the harness was completely unwrapped in this car I'll never know, but I think a previous owner decided to remove the stereo, and tried to cut out all the stereo wires. I've gong through and removed as much of the free wires as I could,

I ended up with this pile of wiring that had been cut on each site. http://www.solo2.org/gallery/albums/17/37.aspx

Anyways, here's what I've got, hopefully you guys can take a look and add a comment to the photos you think you know what the part or wire is, or is for.

By putting comments for the photos I can print the image and comments off and go to the shop and start getting things put back together this weekend.

Thanks for all your help so far! There are other photos in the above link as well, just some shots of the trunk, and under the doors, checking for rust and such.

The manual youjust ordered will be your best source for tring to identify the wires that are cut. Good luck cause it looks like a real mess you have.

How much you offering for the contract on the previous owner? [Image: wink.gif]

The EVTM contains some of the major circuits. You might also want to consider ordering the 198_ Car Wiring Diagrams - Thunderbird/Cougar

For 1988 numbers on the book are (E8SB/E8WB) and FPS-12136-88L

This publication has ALL the wiring diagrams

Good luck

I'm actually not too upset about the whole mess. It's a project. Though I believe that is the reason the car was as cheap as it was, the previous owners didn't want to deal with trying to put it back together.

Pete is right, having a wiring diagram makes all the difference. I too had a pile of wires when we swapped out the dash in my car here at school. The tape that held the harness together had fallen apart and we had a massive mess. If a gruop of high school students can trace the wires and make everything work, I'm sure you can.

I've traced quite a few of the wires. I copied 10-15 pages out of a manual at the county library. I'm going to check the book out this weekend as I think it covers most of what I need and should be a good supliment to the evtm that should come tomorrow.

The book is old enough now I guess that they moved it from the reference section to a section that is allowed to be checked out. Which should come in handy for immediate access.

I currently have the interior stripped on my wrecked 87. It has electronic climate control, and every option but the sunroof as far as wires go. The car is just sitting there adn the harness is in the same place (wrapped up in tape still) that it was when the dash and everything was there.

I can take any pictures you may need if it will help you out. Perhaps you can use them to identify the wire-connecter relation and then I can take closer pictures for you so you can get it set up right.

Might be faster than reading pages and pages of stuff. Let me know, I'll be glad to help.

Ryan

Ryan, if you wouldn't minding taking pictures and sending them over that'd be great. I'll PM you my email address.

Having photos of how it should look when done would be great. Photos of connections and their approximate location in the system would also help I think.

The more info I have going into this this weekend I'm sure the easier it will be.

Hey man, check your PM's. I've got nowhere to post the pictures you wanted and my browser freezes when I upload them via the web.

I really need an FTP.. If anyone here has a site with a guest FTP or something, PM me?
