If I choose to put a LA computer in my 86 TC, I will have put in a IAC. If I dont want to buy a lower with one installed, where else can I put the IAC that is quick and painless.

You mean the ACT? The IAC is on the throttle body where it has to be.
I'm thinking you could put an ACT into the upper intake. I'ts purpose is to measure the temperature of the charge air close to the cylinder head. I think having it in the lowe is better, because i think it actully may get hotter than the upper.

It probably would be hotter in the lower; it's thermally closer to to engine and the air is most likely compressed a little bit in the transition from upper to lower, warming it a bit. Lowere *should* be better.
Just my 2 cents FWIW.
Hey Chip - you gotta see my TC; the paint job is AWESOME! Call me, I want to talk about and see your FMIC job.

OK. I guess there is no way around it. Have to go to half off day at the JY and pick up a lower with a ACT. Joe call you this week. I've been busy with my new 86 TC project I just got. Wife just loves another TC project. NOT!! [Image: smile.gif]

You COULD just tap the lower for a fitting. (That would remove your excuse for going to the yard, though, so I guess THAT ain't gonna happen.) On mine, there was a flat spot on the rear of the lower manifold that looked like it would work great for that, if I would have bothered to take it off instead of tapping the upper.
Hope this helps.
