Matt, the system voltage should never spike over 20V. Even with the alt full fielded due to a regulator fault, volts wouldnt go over 16 to 17 V. Of course, NEVER run a car on the alt alone with the batt disconnected, as the alt outputs 3 phase full rectified AC, which will likely fry electronics of any kind.

I looked thru your whole photo album;

NICE work !

It's cool to see newer technology (USB ports, Arduino,..) being added tastefully to our older cars

and inspiring to hear that a new generation of TC lovers is 'in the queue' ... Smile

ok, I saw the seat turned into a desk chair! I've GOTTA do that too! I'm going to find a T-Bird in the junk yard, get the drivers seat and make myself a new desk chair! Then, I'm going to mount my video camera out the sunroof (with it open) and drive a windy road and play that video on one of my computers while I'm sitting at my desk (in the chair I'm going to make) attempting to work!

Thanks Jeff, just didn't want any of my electronics to get fried Smile

W60, you have no idea how comfortable that chair is, it is fully ajustable and reclinable Smile I sit in it everyday and do my homework Smile

Alrighty Guys,

The system is finally fully functional, I only have 3 sensors at the moment (Vac, Temp, Pressure) but that’s enough for now. The temp sensor is mounted under the intake in place of the dummy light switch, which was in the block. The pressure sensor is in place of the old dummy light switch. The vac sensor is just attached to the vacuum tree via a spare port. I have set the Arduino up so that if something is not right ie Temp goes above 210 F It will start beeping as a warning.

What I used for the project…

- Arduino uno
-Sensors (doesn’t matter which ones, you need to calibrate them all anyways, linear ones are much easier to use)
-D-sub cable to hook up sensors to Arduino (d-sub wire is shielded, might have been unnecessary though)
- 22 AWG wire to hook everything up under dash
- 20 X 4 character lcd
-I used some 1/8’’ aluminum for the panel that houses the lcd screen
-4 small switchs for random things (Arduino power, ac outlet, inverter, etc)
- Tied the arduino power into the power antenna circuit
-1 10K pot for screen brightness

I also have my power center all up and running, I must say I LOVE it. I can plug my ipod into the stereo and charge it with the usb port for endless tunes. I have 2 usb ports, one which is powered by a 120 V inverter (which also runs the 120 V outlet). The other usb port is hooked up to the ac outlet and does not need the inverter on to work (I use it almost always because its much better then having the inverter running). There is a light in the middle to tell me when the inverter is on (I have a switch for it mounted on the lcd panel)

Also all the tabs were broken off my shifter cover plate thing, I used some zip ties to put it back on ☺

It was a great learning experience Smile I would be happy to give people the code I used or help them build their own too.

Very nice project Matt. Especially impressive is the attention to detail. At your age I was hacking things up pretty bad!

Good job, mister!

If you care to, take a look at the PC I installed in mine. I have the Megasquirt, Baumann trans controller, audio, radio, and wideband all controlled and displaying on the center mounted 7" touchscreen with a console mounted touchpad.

I'm working on re-covering the console now.

Vid with it running Megasquirt. At 1:41 see 10 psi on the 302.
