I want to install a K&N CONE but unclear to as how many different cones or kits are available for the TC. I have seen a few pics posted of other members K&N filters and curious to as why are they not covered? Is it O.K. for these filters to get wet? Does anyone know the K&N part# for the common TC set-up? Is it just a filter or a kit?

I basically just got one that would fit right on my VAM after I gutted the factory air breather box. I hear its not good to get them wet, thats why I am gonna buy one of those with the water shield on it(Seen it in one of my 5.0 Mustangs and Super Fords mags)

(Just out of curiosity, whats that canister thing just below the VAM, anyone know)

It's a charcoal canister. This way if you're ever at a Browns game and about to have a cook out, you'll never be without your Kingsford

Jonsey, that canister is a charcoal canister just like Blade said. It is to vent the gas tank fumes so it does not pressurize from heat or vacuume from using the gas.
I just stuck a K&N on my GT's vam and was done with it. I dont drive the car in the rain , but i dont think it would get wet if I did.
On the TC I found a "almost brand new" K&N in a TC in the junk yard. It was the stock replacement filter.

Well, the hose from the charcoal canister(good one Blade) I disconnected from the rubber elbo going to the factory breather. I see no way to reconnect it since I have the cone filter on it. Do I necessarily need to reconnect it? If so HOW?

The part # is RE-0930 cone filter. That's just the filter. You don't have to reconnect the charcoal canister. If you mounted it in front of the radiator support wall behind the headlinght or high in the fender well it won't get wet.

I have my K&N mounted in front of the radiator, but fairly high up to protect it from rain that splashes upward. I used air intake hose from the VAM to near the headlight, the attached a 3" duct from that hose to the filter, which I secured in place with a duct hanger. It isn't pretty, but it works and it won't fall off. [Image: smile.gif] I used something other than the RE-0930, it's similar in size but it is shaped like a cylinder rather than a cone.
The filter won't be damaged or anything if it gets a little damp, but obviously you don't want it in a position where it could get soaked! If a few drops of rain hit it or something, no big deal.
While we're on the topic, a car parts store guy was telling me that there is some sort of bag you can slip over a cone filter, it is normally nonrestrictive but instantly swells up and seals off the filter if it gets dunked in water. He said they had a promo video where they started a car, revved it up, and dunked the filter/bag in a 5-gallon bucket. It didn't swallow any water. Has anyone seen these for sale? I've never heard of them other than from that guy, if they are really that effective I figured everyone would be using them!

see my post under performance tips about how I mounted mine so it won't get wet, won't suck hot engine compartment air, and will get fresh air with maybe a bit of a ram effect.
