Everything ive done to that car, its faught me back. took 3 weeks to fix fuel problems , i installed pc1 comptuer and redtops just to find out 2 of the redtops were bad.. had to undo. I tryed fixing my clutch peddel on the floor problem by installing a adjustable firewall adjuster and clutch quadrant. but the break booster in the way of the adjuster, and the clutch is allways ingaged now... so now it isnt even drivable, i ordered a new hood that i accidently broke .. and the guy keeps on making excuses why he didnt ship it.. so its sitting in yard with no hood also...

if there was one thing I learned from here was, in order to 'play' the car should be in good shape to begin with. dont start modding it until it is running good. It seems it just adds more junk to the pile so to speak. I say fix everything stock. then mod. what was wrong with the clutch pedel? also if it isnt broke dont fix it. why did you buy a new hood? throw the old one on. you dont want all that stuff getting wet.

also I was right behind you, notice how I have 5 thousand posts in 6 months? b/c my TC was a piece. paid 500 for it now I have 3000 into it. no turning back b/c i couldnt make that up. eventully it will all turn out for the good and you will have fun relax take a couple days off to regroup your htoughts. and dont get rid of it

hop on a plane down to fla, and ill let you flog my t/c, if itll make you feel better. i know these things are kinda frustrating, but they are worth it. you will get your t/c done, soon i hope, and you will get the whooshing sound we all have come to rely on to continue breathing. your clutch will be awesome, your fuel system will be superior to most, the hood thing is just sad....but youll get it figured out, and you will love you car..

keep on keepin on

well the clutch, it was releasing right at the floor, and hard to get into gear... wasnt hardly drivable... the auto adjuster wasnt adjusting.. hehe. As for modding, my attention wasnt to mod, i tohgt my ecu was bad, and i got a good deal on a matching pair of browntops and computer. But turns out computer wasnt bad in first place, and the new injectors were.. so i went back to green tops and old ecu, so its running again, jstu have to fix the clutch problem
as for the hood.... it was real bad rusty, it basically fell off when i opened the hood.. no saving it...

I am assuming this is for a 84 turbo coupe. with a hydrolic clutch or no? if hydrolic then it sounds as if something is worn out either way it sounds like something is worn out. maybe the clutch pivit is to far in and needs to come out a bit and the fork is hitting the bell housing.

Ihave heard of people using the firewall mounted clutch quadrants on the pre 87 cable clutch set up. I think there are a couple past posts about it. Try searching on "clutch quadrant" or just "quadrant"

I also have been having problems with my car. I have been "stuck" driving my dads 95 mustang gt for the last month. I know it is frustrating but there is nothing like the feeling of listening to that whine and feeling the boost kick in. Plus with gas the way it is now, the TC has the power of a V8 but gets twice the gas mileage. Keep plugging away.

I've been down that route before and ended up selling the car as a parts car- HOWEVER.

The car I had needed FAR more work than yours does. If all my car needed was a clutch problem fixed and a new hood, I'd be a happy camper! Like the other guys said, get your car running cherry before you start upgrading stuff. I made that mistake and lost LOTS of money. I had invested a SPEC Stage III clutch, new flyhweel, new u-joints, swapped a WHOLE interior, tires/wheels, countless sensors and engine work, swapped in a new tranny, new tranny mount and had the tranny gone through by a stick shift pro local here. Replaced water pump, starter, all coolant lines, spark plug wires, cap, rotor, air filter, fuel filter, and that's not even the START of the things I put into that car!!!

It ended up needing a full exhaust, turbo, new head, new wiring harness, new cam and followers, block turned out to be busted where a piece of the bell housing attached. Suspension needed to be fixed (worked but was installed wrong for some reason).

Needless to say, should have been a parts car to begin with. Now it is just a big $1,500-$2,000 or so waste of money that I sold for $400 just to get the damn thing out of my sight.

So keep wrenching on it! Your car isn't nearly as bad as mine was, it is definatley repairable!! And rare to boot!
