I know this has been talked about and I did the search. It came up with one thread that doesn't answer what I'd like to know.

On the black 87TC, I took it for a drive today and I got back, popped the hood and noticed the exhaust manifold was glowing red.
I was driving it down the road, nothing crazy. It wont do anything crazy. I put on a new turbo and everything is put on right.
It's actually doing what it was doing with the old turbo.
I can be setting at idle and rev it and it get's into boost according to the factory gauge. I can hear it spooling up and the gauge shows about 5 PSI. I know that it's not suppose to get into boost while not under load (at idle).
The car seems like it doesn't have much power. It kinda drives like it's a regular car, but when you try to get into boost, it get's to the 5 PSI, but it doesn't get any higher and there is no "in the pant's feel".
Will the cat cause the manifold to glow red?
If not or so, what are the other things that will?
I'm thinking about trading it for a '90 SC and I'd like to get it running right first.
Thanks

Thanks guy's.
I'll check the timing first. If that's not it, I'll cut the cat!
Does anyone else have any other ideas?

My first thought would be a vacuum leak that is causing a lean condition. Too much air for the amount of fuel. Next would be to pull the codes and see if any sensors show up as bad.

I checked the timing...it was at 10* ATC!
I set it at 12* BTC and it drives like it should.
The motor pulls and builds up 10 PSI of boost. It still doesn't feel exactly right, but I'm thinking it needs a good tune up.
I would feel okay about trading it the way it's running.
It has some kind of bleeder valve on it and I think it might be the reason it's only getting 10 PSI. I might switch it for a valve like my other one to see if it will get 18 PSI.
It does still have a miss. I pulled a plug and it looked good and the gap is correct.
I checked for vacuum leaks and everything looked OK.
It has all Motorcraft parts, but I don't know how old they are.
Thanks again and if anyone else have any idea's, please post..
