Ok, as some of you know I had a small fire in my TC's engine bay. Right before the fire the clutch was fine, after, it will not build pressure. The car has been having a small leak for a while now from what looks to be the slave cylinder, but I checked the resevoir and the fluid is fine.

Any ideas you guys can give me? The fire was on top of the lower intake manifold; I dont think it was close enough to the clutch master cylinder to do any damage, at least I hope.

PS: The brakes work absolutely fine. They build pressure wonderfully.

Have you checked the clutch resevoir for fluid level? There is a line on the container to indicate the correct level. It only has to be around or slightly over 1/2 full. If it's low maybe a hole got burned in the line frommaster to slave???

Maybe the slave cylinder got progrssively worse. A leak will not seal up, you would need a new cylinder. Gently peel the rubber cup on the rod end back. If it drips fluid, it ought to be changed. If there is just a film of moisture, no dripping, that is OK.

The rod should move 0.53" minimum when the clutch pedal is pushed to the floor

Forgive my ignorance, but doesnt the fluid that works the brakes and clutch come from the same resevoir? If so, I checked it and it was fine.

Clutch has it's own reservoir. It's below the vacuum tree on the firewall.

I pulled the dust cover off, it looked as if some DOT3 fluid was puddled in there, but I moved the boot and no other fluid came out.

Also, I dont know if it makes a difference but the plastic straps that would come on a new one connected to the cap on the end of the rod were broken off from the cap on the end of the rod.

Did you get a chance check the resevoir fluid level yet?

Is it below, or right next to the vacuum tree? There was a small resevoir right next to the vacuum tree, I pulled the cap off and pulled the little black cap off and it was empty.

It was very small, like one of those small paper cups.

That is it. If it is empty that is why you can't get pressure to build up. You will need to find the leak (sounds like you have one leak in the slave)
It uses brake fluid. You will need to fill to proper level then bleed the system like you would the brakes. See the pic for the bleed screw location.
I don't remember what size allen wrendh is needed

If you have to replace the slave cylinder, the fluid line is held in place by a roll pin that has to be tapped out. See next pic. In the pic "A" is the roll pin and "B" is the bleed screw.
