I have been looking at some hurst shifters from the SVO mustang, they are quite short and I was considering a swap. Anyone know if the difference is worth the trouble?
So whats your point?

I got an 86 SVO and I don't consider the shift throws short relative to a TC. The SVO are longer if anything.

I use a B&M Ripper. It doesn't seem to be any better than the stock piece, I just like the stops, and the shorter overall height. The stock piece was a damn nice shifter imho.

I've got the Hurst Billet Plus in both my TCs and love it. The stock shifter is a noodle compared to the Hurst. The Hurst is spring loaded with adjustable stops and I highly recommend it. There is a downside if you want to keep the stock shifter knob. The knob will push the shifter boot down enough on the shorter shifter that it can bind up a little. If you get the Hurst cue ball knob (sold seperatly of course) the boot will only be pushed down slightly.

Any aftermarket shifter will be a big improvement ove the POS stock shifter. When I put in my Steeda TriAx, the difference was night and day.

I could be wrong as i was 8 when this car came out, but wasnt this supposed to be a stock short throw shifter? I realize that coulda been a false myth, or maybe it was short for the time, and compared to whats there its not now.

I'll secong this. I have a UPR BluThunder in mine ($135.00), and it was probalby the best money I have spent on the drivability of mine. I also have the shifter boot issues noted by others. I solved mine with a Mustang Bullitt knob.
