I just bought a turbo from a guy. He said it came off a turbo coupe, but he couldn't remember what year it was. He has had like 6 or 7 of them and changed things around, and engines in them. This is all that I know about it. It is none roller, has like a 1" outlet and a 2" to 2 1/8" air intake. I would like to knwo what size it is, a t03 or t02 or whatever it maybe. It is just a toy for me. I want to rebuild it and put it to use on something. I just want to see how much boost I can get out of it and if it is even worth my time messing with. I only gave $50 for it so I figured I couldn't go wrong there.

On the out put housing it says Garrett. It also has some numbers on the out put housing. I don't remeber what they are right off hand, but I will get them tomorrow when I get home from work and post them. Thanks for the help.

OK here is the numbers that are on the out put housing. It has on it: AR .60 M11. I don't know if these are the numbers you need or not. If so or not can you tell me what these numbers mean? Also what size should the out put hose be? And how much boost is possible out of this turbo? I know I am full of questions. LOL But you can't leanr anything if you don't ask.

Thanks for your help,

That is a Garrett (Air Research) T-3. The .60 you are reading is the compressor ratio and the turbine side is more than likely a .48 A/R,you will see t his number stamped inside the the hole of the flange that bolts to the engine,it is slightly larger than the .48 version, but other than that they are identical turbos.Either way it is a T-3 it is the only Turbo that came on the T/C's(as long as it's stock)unless it was an 87 or 88 then it would be a Warner-Ishi (IHI) turbo, which we have already decided that you do not have.
The output hose should be approx. 2" and you can safely run about 20 PSI with this unit with other supporting cast, such as larger fuel pump, upgraded exhaust, increased fuel pressure, etc.

Thanks for the info. Now I just have to decide on what I want to put it on. LOL I have an s10 with a small block, or my beretta with a 2.0 5 speed. I think either way will be fun. Again thanks a lot.

There is a definition of AR in the FAQs.

The quoted 20 psi would be what is safe to run on the ford 2.3 engine that is meant to be turboed. If you try running 20 psi on your s10 or beretta, you'll be picking up pieces of the engine for a while. The 2.3 turbo engine has forged pistons and a compression ratio low enough to handle the boost pressures, but the other engines do not.

My s10 has the right pistons. They are forged with 7 to 1 compression. I have a big cc head to lower it even more. I think that it would be ok. My beretta engine is a 8.5 to 1 compression ratio. They engine only has 20,000 on it. But then again I may just sell it to my buddy that has a svo.
