It cost me $101.76 to get my headliner done in my 86' SVO w/sunroof. I picked out the material at a local upholstery shop, and they put it on the headliner board. It sounds kind of high but, I didn't want to mess with the spray adhesive.

Just the opposite with me....I did the deal for $35!!! very easy to remove the headliner...then just cut the fabric to fit....(got mine at pep boys) spray the adhesive on to the old headliner and good as new!!!!...mine used to be light gray...I changed it and made it black to contrast the gray sunvisors and two-tone leather seats...looks cool!

If you make your own headliner, don't glue it to the old one. Remove the old fabric and all the foam liner from the cardboard backing. Then, use contact adhesive to attach the new cloth/foam liner to the backing material. Most of the failures where the headliner comes loose and hangs down is due to UV damage to the foam. It dissintigrates on a cellular level. In other words, using your old headliner as a backing is like building your new home on a sand dune. Not a good idea.

yeah, i did the headliner on my bird myself also. i think it cost me like 40 bucks. it is so much easier than it semas. just take old one off (after removing it and all interior panels holding it up), wire brush remaining glue, then spray, and then cross spray new adhesive, put headliner over it, press down, cut excess, leave an inch to fold over, and reinstall. no way i would ever pay to have it done again.

Well I did mine, and I can attest to the ease of it. Why not do it yourself, and put the money towards something else? You may not be pressed for cash now, but you never know whats going to happen. I just went to joanne fabrics, bought about 3 yards of grey cloth similar to my headliner material, and went to walmart and bought 2 cans of 3m adhesive spray in a can. I think i spent about 20 or 25. Just remember thats 70 your saving to buy something at Carlisle!
