How many people use methanol/akly/water injector or race gas

Just wondering what all the kits that everyone is using. Tell us you make/model/jet size/ DIY

IMHO to run fast with our old school engines you have to run methanol or race gas. A good intercooler, bigger turbo, and bigger stock injectors. Will let you make more power than stock. But running 25psi without more octane, I think the car would just slowdown.....break parts

This is my opinion....just wondering what other are doing.

My kit- SMC enterprise alky kit. I have been using race methanol for over 2 years. Race methanol you buy at the trace for $2.50-$3.00 per gallon and has lube already mixed in. My kit always works, it is boost sensing...ie turn on at 7psi and stays on until it sees less then 7psi. I currently looking into a progressive style kit. So I can drive my car at part throttle speeds. At 15psi the car will bog out quickly unless I go to WOT....

Good for the track....not the best on the street.

DIY water/alky. Been working flawlessly for 3 or 4 years. Have mine set to turn on at about 10 psi.

I ran a DIY system with a Saab cold start injector for a little while. That was with the T3, LA3, and stock IC with a fan. I never jacked up the timing but had no trouble with 22psi.

Now I use 110 at the track. That's my insurance to not blow it apart. I think it would take more timing but haven't played with that yet. With 93 it would rattle with 24* at 19lbs. Now it's at 23* and 22lbs?

I have a semi home built methanol kit. I use a mix of 50/50 water/methanol. It uses a Shurflo pump http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/s...273&R=7273

The rest of my stuff i bought from cooling mist.com It turns on at 20 lbs boost, and I am using a 10 gph injector.

That lubed methanol is lubed with oil, not what you want to be injecting (detanation) You dont need lubed unless its your primary fuel. The regular fuel we are using will wash the meth away.

This is true....but the lubed methanol helps my older pump, and it is all I have available... and cheap.

Do you know of another cheap source of methanol??

That is what I have been using. I have been told that the "good" -35 deg F rated stuff is about 30% methanol.

Jeff thats about what I was thinking. Do you have any stock car racing arround there? Where I live there are 2 local dirt tracks, I get my methanol from a stock car supply place. The keep at least 3 55 gallon drums of each on hand. Lubed and nonlubed. 3.00 gallon mixed with water its only 1.50 Smile
