ok cool doesn't sound too bad..

I saw a youtube viddie which advocated using a paint can opener (church key) to get the old seal out,
w/o having to remove the front cover ...

Thanks Pete !

I just did a timing belt, and I did find it pretty easy to get back in there. I had the radiator out, so there was lots of room to work.

I always carry a spare timing belt, timing belt tensioner, and 22 mm socket for the crank bolt with me on a road trip in the TC. Came in handy a few years ago at Carlisle when one of our guys threw a timing belt when pulling into a restaurant. We all pitched in, and used my spare belt, and had him back on the road within an hour.

Yup second that. I had a bad experience a cold morning almost 5 years ago in Prescott, AZ (in the mountains). Stalled out, then the arrhythmic sound of a mis-timed engine, it had apparently jumped a few teeth. Now in addition to a spare belt, tensioner, 22mm socket I also have a timing gun with me just to be certain it’s correct.
