How far will a stock ECM allow me to go?

I recently purchased an 88 T-coupe. I plan on pushing around 250-300 out of the engine. I have read the beginner mods on this site and plan to stick to that order. My question is...how much boost will the stock ECM compensate for? I don't plan on going over 17 or 18 (per this sites recommendations). At this level, will I need to upgrade my fuel pump and/or fuel injectors?

All help is greatly appreciated!

The fuel pump is barely adequate for the stock setup. It will need replaced. The injectors(with raised fuel pressure) will get you close to 300hp.

------------------
mods: SDS Digital Fuel Injection, ported & polished big valve head(1.89/1.59), .500 lift roller cam, custom upper and ported lower intakes, 60-1 stage III .63 turbo, powerstroke intercooler, 60mm throttle body, 75pph injectors, Walboro 255HP pump, Kirban adj. fuel reg., ATR header, 3" exhaust with Dynomax Ultraflow muffler, MSD 6al, MSD coil, MSD Launch Control, MSD 8.5mm wires, K&N filter, Star stage III clutch, Greddy Profec B boost controller, Weld Draglites with M/T ET Street 26x11.5/15
NO TC and NO headaches.

are you looking for 250-300 at the engine or at the wheels? the stock computer won's have a problem with added boost or slightly larger injectors(42#). if you are looking at running anything larger injector wise, you will at least want to go with a chip or a EEC tweeker/tuner of some sort. but, first thing first, buy yourself a 255 high pressure pump and a good regulator for the fuel that will be needed.

I guess I'm looking to push more power out of the engine without reducing the daily dribability of it(I know that's a matter of opinion). I will be quite happy (to begin with) with 300 flywheel horsepower. As soon as I get the car running a bit better, I will start pushing to envelope.
