I tried searching the boards. How do you tell if it is Ford, TRW, how many turns LTL? Thanks.

If I remember right, NAPA listed it as a "sport steering" rack You do not want the one used on the regular Tbirds. The TC rack has a quicker ratio.
See this if it works

Thanks. I figured I needed the quicker ratio but what is the difference between the Ford and TRW design? Is it just preferance or is there a difference? Thanks.

The steering ratio is 15:1 constant with 2.4 turns lock to lock. I don't know if the Ford and TRW differ internally but they are functionally the same. When I replaced mine I used a rack listed as "sport handling" for a Mustang. The mounting insulators included didn't fit on the T-Bird.

Thanks. The bushings are the main reason I'm changing out the rack. They are destroyed and the rack moves all around while I drive. I was considering just putting in some new bushings but the racks don't seem too expensinve. Thanks for all the info though.

You can get the bushings for the stearing rack in polyruathan from a couple of suppliers. PST and Energy Suspension are two that I know of. Much less than replacing the whole rack.
83 dead bird, in pieces however I'm reading from the book of the dead, should be running soon.
