It's been a LOOOOOOONG time since a 87/88 TC part stumped me. How does the power steering pump pulley come off? I tried the hex inside the center, no dice. I tried running a bolt down the threads, didn't work either. Do I need a pulley puller for it? HELP!

Yes, it takes a power steering pully to take it off.
I got mine from Snap-On.

I rented one from Advance Auto Parts and it pulled it off in no time at all. If you don't want to buy one, that's the way to go.

You need a pulley puller/installer. It's just a friction fit but man, it takes some elbow grease to muscle it on and off.
Try Autozone. You can pay for their rental unit, and when you bring it back you get =all= your money back. Free tool! That's what I did.

Watch out for the cheapies! Sometimes you work much harder with a cheap puller than a nicely designed one. I think it was OTC that makes a very nice kit for the Ford power steering pulleys. They also should be pressed on,hence the threads in the shaft. The OTC does both I believe. I couldnt find the one I'm thinking of on the otc site, so must be a different company. Make sure you get a remover and installer kit,as they are sold seperatly too. Tom
