Ok, I had someone that was going to help me replace the crankshaft seal, but their out of town for some reason and I want to go ahead and get this thing fixed tonight. I see one large bolt that holds the crank pully on, my question is what's behind that? And do I need to mark the position of anything before I take it off?

thanks in advance,
david

The pulley is behind it an dthat should come right off. Behind the pulley is the drive gear for the cam belt and a belt guide. They should come off easily. The front crank seal is exactly the same as the front cam seal and the aux. shaft seal. It may be tough to get out for lack of working room. the new one just gets pressed or gently hammered in.

Ok, doesn't sound to hard, so I don't have to mark the position of the crank or cam or anything?? And about how long should this take for someone who's never done this before?

thanks,
david

Sorry for all the questions, I just don't want to get my self in a postition of not getting the car back in a running position, in case the home owners association has a problem with my car being parked on the street for more than 24 hours, which they have in the past.

Since you will have to take the cam belt off to do the job you will have to put the cam back in time when done. See the article on cam timing if you have never done it.
The whole job will take longer than it looks.
because of having to take the cam belt off and the front cam belt cover.
