Does a high volume oil pump fit in are motors? I recently rebuilt my motor again!!! I got a crank from a fellow member and my oil pump craped on me right from the start...and I put a high volume pump on it now my motor won't start? I checked clearances between the pan and crank on a old 2.3 block it cleared by a good bit but I didn't have rods in it but it was only taller at the base and I reused my old pickup now my motor won't turn over? I also need a new clutch disk I'm pretty sure it's to the metal on the flywheel side but idk which one will cause it a rod not clearing the oil pump or the flywheel rusted the clutch disk

Yes - a high volume pump does fit, but it is strongly advised not to use one due to the fact that it puts more stress on an already weak link in the system and can accelerate or cause the failure of the dizzy/aux. shaft gears and/or pump drive.

What Brian said...

Unless you have plans to build a 8000rpm screamer....if so than by all means...

If you aren't that guy the stock stuff works great...

Johnathan it's good to see you got the car running again, but are you still running the high volume oil pump? if so I would heed these guys warnings. Do some searching on here And turboford regarding gear/shaft failure and you will see why.

Yea its to late I have it in now and everything is ok so far and I'm not going to pull it out yet bc I'm tired of screwing with the car I just want to drive it but if it ever just dies on me I know why

Just keep an eye on the dizzy gear...also u will probably blow out some engine seals....sorry. Its just not needed for 99% of 2.3T owners...the stock oiling system is great.

I've read another reason to consider not getting an HP of HV oil pump is the turbo. The seals and oiling inside the turbo are much smaller and weaker than the engine's, meaning with HP/HV you are more likely to blow oil past the seals or damage it somehow...
