The stock gauges don't necessarly reflect relative pressure. It might or might not. If you want to know what is going on remove the OP sensor and screw in a diagnostic gauge and see what you get at hot idle and hot 2000+ rpms

sorry to leave you dead, but i havent had access to the car to do more extensive testing... this is a project between me and a friend of mine, and he was out of town. So he took it to a mechanic friend of his (who, hates fords), but he said something about a oil pressure regulator? this is like, 3rd hand conversation here, so i might be wrong on the name, he said its like a $50 part at the local parts shop, and its cylendrical... ive been reading up on old articles, but to no avail... and ive never heard of this... anyone know wtf they were talking about?

It sound loke he is talking about the oil pressure sending unit - see picture. I have mine plumbed with copper tubing so I can run two oil pressure gauges.
Normailly the sending unit is upright and screw into the manifold where the vertical copper tube is in the picture. I t is located near the back of the culinder head on the driver side.

It is not a regulator, it is onlt a sending unit for the gauge. I beleive the oil pump has a pressure relief mechanism that limits pressure but not 100 % on that.

once again im reminded of how badly i gotta join-up =) so basically, this would NOT cause it to run rough, so we got another problem, but that can be fixed with some good ole fashioned forum searching. great picture too, thanks a lot pete d

The oil pressure thing is not why it is running rough. Take a look at this post on the rough running issue: http://natomessageboard.com/ultimatebb.p...0;t=000004
