Allright, Kevin has finally gotten something right. The 88 Turbo Coupes are notorious for sometimes bucking and hesitating in all gears when the accellerator is depressed. After reading posts on this web site, I discovered that the BOSCH spark plugs and wires in my car were the cause of my problem. So too anyone wit a 87/88 TC DON'T USE BOSCH PLUGS AND WIRES!!!! THANK YOU!!!

That's why it pays to look in the FAQ section as soon as you get the car [Image: wink.gif]

Man, have I BTDT! I think I was one of the first ones here to discover this over a year ago (the hard way no less). I even went to the trouble to contact Bosch about this common problem between their wires and TC's but never got any response from them so it's evident they just don't seem to care. We never really have come to a conclusion as to why they act this way, some cars do worse than others. Mine was a noticeable miss/stumble while accelerating only in 3rd - 5th.
STAY AWAY FROM BOSCH WIRES!
Ford/Motorcraft brand is usually a good choice. There is other good sets on the market, the key is finding what works best on your car and STICKING WITH IT!

BTDT also! Stay away from Bosch wires and Platinum plugs from any manufacturer.

Thats really screwed up, Bosch makes some damn good products. I am running their plugs in my aluminum headed V8 TC with Taylor 409 wires, no problems like that. Seems to me that something is interfering with the wires OR the knock sensor...I have heard and experienced the same deal with using anything but stock wires and plugs when I had the 2.3L in it, gave me rediculous problems. A solution to why this is happening would make me happy, seems like its inherant to every Turbo-Coupe.

Yeah I would like to know what's the cause too.
I've had excellant results using Taylor High Energy wire set on my 88TC, that's all I'll run now. Like I said, find out what works best for your car and stick with it.
