Alright so i have a 1986 turbo coupe shes all stock and when i got her she ran fine but going around a corner once it died and i heard a beeeeeeeeeeeppp. noticed that if you turn your key slowly right before you get to the on position it makes the same noise. try it so you know the sound. Any ways so it happened everyonce in a while getting worse and worse. also noticed it sounded low on oil aka was ticking a little at the top, so i changed the oil since i just got it. but not it wont even move itll start then die before i could go anywhere. not like i.d risk it. Any help helps thank you Smile

I'm no expert but I would start by looking for any loose grounds or connections, check the ingnition switch, and also look at the TFI and PIP.

Does it run fine until you start to move, then it dies? Mine did that as well and I had to change the ignition switch and it worked fine after that. Just had the internals of the switch all boogered up so you move and it upset it and undid the connection, therefore making it die. Hope I helped!

Alright, everyone at the parts store insists on that its the oil pump. but im going to buy a new ignition switch anyways seeing how they are 10 bucks 2IS79 is the part number at orileys. Speaking of oil does anyone know what is the ideal amount of oil for a tc is? mine seems to tick a little bit im thinking its low on oil a bit but its hard to tell with the full synthetic anyone know where this ignition switch would be it just looks like a wiring plug. ALSO when it dies its random just when im cruising but power loss and BUUUUZZZZZZZZZ but as it got worse i started it this morning to back it up a bit and reved up a little cam back to idle then 2 seconds later BUZZZZZ and it was dead did that 4-5 more times trying to back it up a little bit

Btw shes a fadded gold and i want to make her have a sexy new paint job. Ideas for colors? also i seen that the 87-88 tcs can run the higher boost because of the top mount, but i have a svt Front mount intercooler, if i install that would it be safe to run higher boost levels ie 20 -22 this is for future refernce i want to fix it first.

The ignition switch is in the steering column. Remove the cover - 1 screw on each side, from the underside. The igntion switch i held in by 2 torqx bolts. If you got a dremel you can slot the screws and use a flat blade to remove and reinstall. Be sure to inspect the connector and wiring for heat damage.
