Because someone else is out bidding you [Image: wink.gif] Are you familiar with proxy bidding? This allows each bidder to set a max price and e-bay will bid on each persons behalf up to that point. My guess is that someone has set a higher max proxy bid than you have yet bid.

So your telling me that he has an auto bid on, how? Or did he just put a high bid?

He set a price that he is willing to pay. It will automaticly bid for him up to that maximum untill his set price is reached. He then will get an email telling him that he has been out bid. It gives him the option of either increasing his bid or letting it go.
What you need to do is figure out how much you are willing to pay. Ebay will auto bid for you just the same. It only bids enough to go beyond the present price. It will not go beyond what you set as your maximum bid unless YOU increase it. I use ebay alot and it works pretty well. Just resist the temptation to go beyond what you realllly want to pay just to win the auction.

When you make your bid you will notice that you are asked to place your MAXIMUM bid. Lets say the item is at $25. However lets also say that I have placed a maximum bid of $100. The item still appears as $25 to the general public. Now lets say you bid on the item, and place your max bid at $75. As soon as your bid is placed, you will be outbid by the person who has set a max bid of $100. The new price however, will only appear as say $76 or whatever a single bid increment above your previous bid is. This process will continue until your high bid exceeds all other high bids from other bidders. Hope this clears things up for you.

could be both ...

if the item is at $20 right now, and the other person said they would pay up to $50, you'll be bidding your brains out until you bid at least $50
