if all else fails to remove the stubborn O2 sensor here is how we do it up here in the salt belt,,, knock off the the upper shrouded sensor guts then heat just the base of the sensor with acetylene torch (mapp gas may do it) then chill with water, when you heat just the sensor it tries to expand but has nowhere to go so it displaces itself then when you cool it it shrinks ,,, if ya dont have gas a CAREFULLY placed weld on the base will also work,,,, This is the trick i learned many yrs ago at a good ford dealer Mark in upstate NY

we pulled codes, and it stated the HEGO was not switching, and was reading either rich or lean, i cant remember which

so we tried disconnecting the O2, and it helped a decent bit

got it off....used a 7/8" combo wrench and let the car warm up for 15mins....one good pull and one cut arm later, the o2 broke loose

Isn't it amazing how many parts are positioned in such a way that they require at least one cut (requiring a bandage) to remove ?

down here in fl, we call burning yourself on the turbo a "turbo tatto" and a scrape with blood or worse,"battle scars"

now these are required to remove, replace or repair, anything on a t/c. if you walk up to the car and cut your self, then grab the hot turbo with both hands, then everything from there on in will be smooth sailing, you just have to get the cursing out of the way first.

90% of the time, an O2 not switching code is NOT due to the O2 sensor being bad!! A 41/42 is MUCH more likely to be caused by fuel pressure problems, VAF / TPS problems, FPR problems, vac leaks, etc. Exactly what code or codes did you get? What part of the test? KOER? CM?

i dont remember off the top of my head to be honest

it was engine off

at the same time, we changed out the plugs for some motorcraft, gapped em, determined that it needed a TPS (tested the voltage, no matter what youd do to it, it would read .02), and got a code 14
