Help Guys!! I just went to hook up the battery and it started smoking like is was going to explode!! What did I do wrong?! I have the original green red wire going to the green red lead from the 3G (got the plug from a 92 Tbird with a 3G). I have the yellow red wire going to the yellow red lead. I spliced the black wire into the white black stator wire that loops to the stator. Was I not supposed to splice the black wire in? Was I supposed to just seal off the black wire?

Heres pics...

Yes, I read it and applied it, but it states to hook the black wire up to the stator. Do they mean the original black wire or the the wire that is supposed to loop to the stator. The intructions are vague.

Exact quote "The black or black / white wire needs to be connected to the S terminal on the regulator, and to the stator terminal next to the regulator connector using the stator plug you obtained earlier."

OK Guys, I went back and disconnected one wire at a time untill the battery wire stopped burning. Aparantly the black red wire coming from the alternator was causing the problem. Why?
I removed the wire and replaced it with and just ran the thick black red wire that I also had in place.

Question: what side of the solenoid does that wire go. Is it the same side as the poistive wire that is going to the battery? Just want to be 100% sure. had a battery blow up in my face once, and it sure hurtSad

I agree with RDog. The instructions are not very clear. I ended up splicing the 2 wires into the 3G harness. Then I put eyelets on the BK/O 10 gauge wires from the 2G harness and attatched to the stud on the alt. Then ran a stock Explorer BK/O 4 gauge wire from the alt to the solinoid on the firewall also.I have had no overheat problems at all and it charges perfectly. The only difference was I did the Ranger passenger side alt swap using a Explorer Alt.

Oh and yes. The alt wire hooks up to the same side on the solinoid as the battery cable. That is how you charge the battery. The other side will just engauge the starter after you start the car.Don't want that.

RDOG, what year is the Thunderbird? I know the black wire should not be connected to the W/B wire if it is internally regulated system.I just put the black wire into the harness on mine and wrapped it up.The W/B wire is just a stand alone jumper.

EDIT::: It does not matter. That black wire should not be hooked up to the white/black stator wire.Just make it a jumper wire and leave the black wire alone.
P.S. You need to make better conections on your splice. You will have future problems if you don't fix it.
