i need to know what shocks and struts will work for a 88 TC? i know that the ride control ones are no longer in production so i am willing to use just regular shocks and struts but need to know which ones? will the ones from a V8 sport thunderbird of the same year work? are there any high performance aftermarket alternatives?

i know KYB makes a few types of struts for out car. monroe also does and i think a company called gabriel. as far as the bushings go i have no idea. a parts store that carries any of those struts should be able to tell ya. kyb are a good gas filled unit for a fair price and has similar ride quality as the prc set to firm. its worth checking out there website. you could also search this board as there is tons of info on this.
1988 5speed black every option. 3inch single turbo to tail(stinger), manual boost control. k&n cone walbro fuel pump

1986 xr4ti project car..... way to many mods to list.

Um.

No.

CSK auto does NOT. They are NON-PRC replacement shocks and struts.

I used to work there, i would know.

Monroe sens-a-tracs are decent replacements. if you can find NOS shocks and struts (PRC) good, but any other shocks and struts you will loose the ride control feature.

And please dont post incorrect information. If you would have actually looked up struts/shocks on CSK auto .com, it says " See Appendix A For Procedures For Replacing; Electronic Adjustable Suspension With Non-Adjustable Product".

All others are EXC Turbo Coupe.
All hail Project "Marauder" !

That description means it fits models with PRC. It does not mean it has PRC. The attached instructions it referrs to are how to install them without the PRC. They are replacements, and will work..but you will lose PRC. The original PRC shocks/struts were made by Tokico (sp?) and we have heard the tooling for them has been destroyed. The only real PRC left are what's on the shelf at a dealer, a depot etc (not much at all).

A couple of us got PRC rear sets off a parts seller on the web a few months ago, but I think we dried those up. I was astounded they actually had them to ship!!. And at significantly less than what the dealers charged, when they could still find them Big Grin

I ran sens-a-tracks with Koni rallysport springs and was very impressed with them. they were about the same firmness as good PRC struts in the firm setting. I would recommend them.
Currently birdless, but will get another someday!
