Headlights on... off... on...

Question for the electrical gurus...
My headlights went out Saturday night for about 15 seconds, then on for about the same, then off, and etc.
I can have my brights on and it does the same thing.
One thing I did to totally avoid pissing people off was to turn my headlights off (parking lights on) and "flash to pass" all the way home (mostly interstate). (I'm sure that may have pissed off some people too, but it may be better than flashing!)
Question is, do I need the whole new switch? I've searched, and some just bypassed it, but don't have brights anymore. I am looking to get it back to having both "normal".
Any help appreicated.

Mine did the same thing...I replaced the main headlight switch on the dash and it's worked fine ever since.

Awesome. Thanks Nick.

Anyone have some sort of drawing or diagram for wiring up aftermarket fog lights. All the older posts' pics are gone by now. I just need to wire up a relay, but I'm clearly not an elecrician.
Thanks,

Check the FAQ page for the fog light rewire.

A new light switch will cure your flashing headlight problem.

it will assuming the used switch you find isn't worn out too. The other alternative is to wire a relay between the dash switch and the lights. I did this for my dims and foglights and it works like a charm.

Liquid,
I may need more info on that approach. I just called, and Ford wants $133 for a new one.
I don't think it will prove valuable to get one from the JY.

Wes,
Do you have this one, or is it just an offering? I'd like to know if anyone has tried this one? If not, I guess I'll be the newbie!

Don't forget - you may also need to replace the dimmer switch as well - I tried to get away with just the dash switch for my headlights, but that did not solve the problem. I also had to replace the high/low beam dimmer switch.
